Hometown Market wanted to make a strong first impression, even before opening. Our team set out to design a visually striking barricade graphic that reflected the spirit of Minnesota through the joyful, abstract art of Ashley Mary. The piece needed to balance artistry and function—creating excitement for the upcoming store while keeping the look cohesive with the airport’s environment.

The Challenge

Designing within airport guidelines came with its complexities—working around existing doors, dimensions, and temporary fixtures while coordinating approvals from multiple stakeholders. The client also requested to feature a rendering of the future store, requiring all imagery to meet a minimum resolution of 150 DPI for large-scale printing. Throughout, we aimed to honor Ashley Mary’s artwork and celebrate Minnesota’s creative culture.

The Solution

Through ongoing collaboration with the client, the airport, and the artist, we refined every detail—from placement and scale to color accuracy and print finishes. The final design featured vibrant tones, clear messaging, and a bold call to action alongside a rendering of the store, creating both excitement and clarity for travelers passing by.

The Result

The finished barricade became a moment of color and curiosity within the terminal—a vibrant installation that both the client and airport were proud to showcase. It stands as a visual celebration of local art and community, turning a temporary construction wall into an uplifting feature of the MSP experience.
